Kyoto pt.4

On my final day of my stay in Kyoto i went to Kiyomizudera Temple (Pure Water Temple) and later to the Uzumasa Toei Filmstudios!

Kiyomizudera Temple is on the list of Unesco world heritage sites and is situated in the east wooded hills of Kyoto. It was founded around 780 close to the Otowa waterfall. The waters are divided in 3 streams each of them is considered to have a different benefit effect on your body. One for longevity, one for a good love life and another for success at school. But you should not drink from all three this is considered greedy. There is lots of renovations still ongoing but nevermind this is pretty cool.

Next was Usumasa Eiga Mura Studio…..it a bit far from the center….you have to go with a bus from Kyoto station. It takes roughly an hour.Inside you can see rebuilt streets of the edo period, fighting Samurai and Ninja Warriors, practice shuriken throwing, visit a ninja maze and see Kamen Rider and Super Sentai Heroes!!!It was great fun!!!

the world of tim burton exhibition / Roppongi /Mori art museum

Hi there again!

I have been to the Tim Burton exhibition in Roppongi recently and it was very cool!
You can have a look at a whole lot of sketches and drawings as well as animation models from various films like the nightmare before christmas, corpse bride, mars attacks and even beetlejuice!
No matter if you like Tim Burtons early animation films or the live action ones he directed it is really a fascinating collection of artwork!
I was not allowed to take pictures inside, but here is the advert in roppongi station and some pictures from the advertising and the entrance!

This awesome exhibition runs still until the 4th of january! For anybody interested in art/movies this is really a treat!

here is a link to the official page !

Kyoto pt.3

Also on the second day of my travel i went to Kinkakuji temple(Golden Pavillion) which is probably the most famous or definitely one of the most popular sights in the city.

It is covered in golden leaves and in the northern part of Kyoto. It was the retirement villa of a shogun and was a zen temple afterwards. It burned down several times in its history and the current building was finished in 1955 after it was burned down before by a fanatic monk in 1950.

The garden with the pond is really nice especially in autumn season as the leaves of the trees turn red or yellow. It was a quiet and relaxing experience also the weather was great.

The temple itself is very beautiful!

…to be continued.
